I look forward to Memorial Day Weekend every year because we host a dinner party and run the BolderBoulder. We try to keep our dinner simple so that we can enjoy our friends' company and relax. I have a few tricks of the trade that you might find helpful for your party.
1. Always greet your guests with a ready-to-drink beverage, like Mural Agua Fresca Ale, upon arrival.
We will kick off the dinner party by serving New Belgium's Mural Agua Fresca Ale at the door. It's delightful, delicious and refreshing. It has the traditional flavors of agua fresca, a fruit-based drink often served in Mexico, but the New Belgium beer is slightly boozier with a 4.2% ABV. It is a combination of watermelon, hibiscus, lime and agave. It's perfect for hot summer days and pairs well with everything we will be serving.
2. Appetizers should be light
We will serve chips with mango salsa and fresh cut watermelon to start. We hope our light apps will allow our guests to save room for dessert. Both appetizers are fruit forward and pair well with the Mural Agua Fresca Ale.
3. Be efficient when prepping and cooking
Hosting can be exhausting but it doesn't need to be. Find ways to be efficient and prep as much as you can before your guest's arrive. My time saving tips are: buy pre-cut watermelon (or fruit), keep it simple with chips and pre-made dip, and serve an entree that doesn't require your constant attention. We will be serving hot dogs this year to keep us from getting stuck behind the grill. Hot dogs also are easy to keep warm for late-arrival guests and it's a very American thing to eat on a very American holiday.
4. Buffet Style
Set your main course up buffet style. This allows guests to serve themselves and it keeps you seated when they need a second helping. Buffet style setup will make the cleanup faster because all your food will be in one spot.
5. Enjoy your Memorial Day Weekend
Although Memorial Day weekend marks the official launch of summer, Memorial Day is a time to remember the fallen soldiers of the armed forces. Appreciate the ones you are with and the ones who have died while serving for our country.
- With a Mural Agua Fresca Ale in hand, Cheers to a great weekend -
